Halasuru Lake
Halasuru formerly known as Ulsoor, is one of the important and oldest localities of Bangalore.
Halasuru Lake, one of the main and biggest lakes of Bangalore makes one of the important attractions of Bangalore. Halasuru Lake is located on the eastern side of Bangalore city.
Halasuru Lake gets its name from the name of the area it is situated in Halasuru close to M G Road, Bangalore. Halasuru Lake is spread over 123.6 acres and has several islands. People could
also sit and relax on the small islands that are on the lake.
Even though the lake was constructed by Kempe Gowda II, the present lake was created by Sir Lewin Bentham Bowring, the then Commissioner of Bangalore.
One of the main attractions of the Halasuru Lake is boating. There is a boat club at the lake, where you can hire cruises with stopovers at some of the islands.
The other important attractions near Halasur Lake are Gurdwara which is considered to be the largest and sacred Sikh shrine in the Bangalore city and MG Road, one of the busiest roads in Bangalore
city.
