The most common mode of local transportation in Bangalore includes of the BMTC buses and Auto Rickshaws.
BMTC Buses: Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) runs bus services for traveling within the city. The different types of Buses operated by BMTC include Ordinary bus, Pushpak, Suvarna, JNurm, Atal Sarige, Volvo, Vayu Vajra (Volvo) and Mercedes Benz. Vayu Vajra was introduced to operate the bus service from Bangalore International Airport to different parts of Bangalore city. A number of private operators also ply from Bangalore city to the out skirts of Bangalore.
Auto Rickshaws: Another important mode of local transport in Bangalore includes Auto Rickshaws. Always insist on going by the meter and do not even pay a rupee extra amount that is displayed in the meter. If the meter does not work, fix the fare in advance.
The driver's information will be displayed in the Auto Rickshaws, it is recommended to note down the information like drivers name, license number and other important details.
Taxis: You can also hire a taxi to travel in the city. However, taxis tend to be very expensive and are recommended only if the group is large. In the case of taxis, too, either go by the meter or fix the fare in advance.
